House Committee Passes National Housing Trust Fund Bill

NPACH continues to work on HR 2895, the National Housing Trust Fund Act of 2007. We are pleased to report that the bill passed out of the House Financial Services Committee yesterday, by a vote of 45-23. It is expected to be approved in the House this fall. Advocates are currently working to gain additional House co-sponsors, and get companion Senate legislation introduced.

Moving the bill through Committee is a significant accomplishment - NPACH thanks Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee Chair Maxine Waters, and all of the Committee members who supported the bill.

As we move past the 20th Anniversary of the McKinney-Vento Act, NPACH reminds our supporters that without a National Housing Trust Fund, and other affordable housing production and preservation programs, we will never end homelessness. We urge you to get involved with the Trust Fund Campaign at the local level.
